Sharing and Promotion Guidance

At ACS Publications, we know it is important for you to be able to share your peer reviewed, published work with colleagues in the global community of scientists. As sharing on sites known as scholarly collaboration networks is becoming increasingly prevalent in today’s scholarly research ecosystem, we would like to remind you of the many ways in which you, a valued ACS author, can share your published work.

Preprints

As the pace of scientific discovery continues to increase, we know how valuable it is for you to share early results and data with your scientist colleagues ahead of formal peer review and publication. With this in mind, we are proud to jointly support ChemRxiv with the Royal Society of Chemistry, the German Chemical Society (GDCh), the Chinese Chemical Society, and the Chemical Society of Japan. Posting preprints allows you to elicit informal feedback from other scientists to help in shaping your work, to allow you the option of establishing priority, and to advance the pace of scientific discovery and dissemination. In addition, with Direct Journal Transfer, a free feature of ChemRxiv, you can directly submit your posted preprints from ChemRxiv to ACS journals for editorial consideration and peer review.

Most ACS journals accept preprints. For a full list of policies by journal, please click the link below.
